  1. Apply to the University
  2. Your next step depends on your desired degree program:

BFA Acting Students
To be accepted into the BFA in Acting program, students must first be admitted to the University. Students audition for the BFA in Acting program at the end of the fall semester of their freshman year. Acceptance into the BFA in Acting program is based on the student’s audition and on her/his class and production work during the fall semester. In order to keep class sizes small enough to allow for individual attention, only 12-14 students are accepted into the program each year.

BA Drama Students
To be accepted into the BA program, students must be admitted to the University and declare the BA in Drama as their major. Students are not required to audition or interview to be accepted into the program.

BFA Theatre Education
To be accepted into the BFA Theatre Education program, students must first be admitted to the University. Students then must be admitted to the Teachers Academy before they are officially categorized as BFA in Theatre Education majors. Application for admittance into the Teachers Academy must be made at least one year prior to the semester in which students plan to student teach.

BFA Design & Theatre Technology / BFA Technical Production
Provisional admission is granted to the B.F.A. in Design/Technology, and the B.F.A. in Technical Production during the first two semesters. At the end of Fall semester, students meet the faculty to discuss their goals. At the end of the second semester, following the completion of a production assignment, students interview for admission to the program.  Students should consult their faculty advisors for detailed interview requirements. Admission to these programs is very competitive.
