Former Department Head and Professor Emerita of Dance at UNCG passed away on Friday July 3rd, 2015. The Greensboro dance community would not have the vitality and breadth of talent that it has today without Jan’s vision and dedication to fostering the work of choreographers. Moreover, the high quality of choreography that we have come to expect from North Carolina choreographers was realized by her professional company, the Van Dyke Dance Group, established in 1989. Van Dyke also founded the Dance Project at the Greensboro Cultural Arts Center and the North Carolina Dance Festival in 2007. In June 2015 an unveiling of her latest contribution to the Greensboro performing arts community, the Van Dyke Performance Space, was held at the Greensboro Cultural Arts Center.
