Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Drama
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Drama degree in the Department of Theatre at UNCG is the core undergraduate theatre program. The BA is designed to challenge and engage students and to provide a comprehensive exploration of the entire field of theatre. BA in Drama students take theatre classes that develop a strong knowledge of acting, directing, script analysis, design, playwriting, dramaturgy, and theatre history and dramatic literature. The BA experience also prepares students for the craft of theatre through required work in costume, scenic, lighting, publicity, and/or properties shop assignments. Along with general liberal arts courses to ensure success in the professional world, BA students often pursue graduate study or enter the profession of theatre upon graduation, working in diverse careers in theatre, film, and television, often as published writers, theatre managers, educators, or directors. Gaining knowledge and experience in arts and culture, skills in handling deadlines and preparing presentations, and the development of a collaborative nature and nurturing the ability to work well with others, the study of theatre provides BA in Drama graduates with exciting options in any field.
